Pre-war Apt Renovation

This project involved the interior renovation of a three-bedroom apartment in a 1910 Pre War building on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The apartment had not been updated in over 50 years and required new plumbing, electrical systems.

The original layout followed a traditional ‘classic six’ configuration, consisting of a formal dining room, living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, a maid’s room, and one bathroom.

Our design preserved and highlighted the apartment’s original prewar details, including the wood fireplace mantle, exposed beams, and oak flooring, while reconfiguring the space to enhance natural light from the south facing windows. Select walls were removed to create a more open and bright living area. The floor plan was thoughtfully adjusted to expand the maid’s room into a third bedroom, open the kitchen to the living space, and convert a utility closet into an additional guest bathroom, seamlessly blending classic charm with modern functionality .
